Origins
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound) is a synthetic 15-amino-acid peptide derived from a protective sequence found in gastric juice. TB-500 is a synthetic fragment of the naturally occurring protein Thymosin Beta-4.
Mechanisms studied
In laboratory models, BPC-157 has been investigated for effects on angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels), cell migration, and the healing of connective, muscular and gastrointestinal tissue. TB-500 research focuses on actin regulation and cell migration, with particular interest in muscular and connective-tissue recovery models. The two are frequently studied side by side because their proposed pathways are considered complementary rather than overlapping.
