What is Prostamax?
Prostamax is a synthetic tetrapeptide bioregulator with the sequence Lys-Glu-Asp-Pro (KEDP), designed as a defined analogue of short peptides isolated from prostate tissue. It belongs to the Khavinson family and is associated in preclinical research with prostatic epithelial and stromal cells.
Prostamax is one of two reproductive-tissue peptides in the series, the other being Testagen. GenoPept supplies Prostamax UK-wide as a 20mg lyophilised vial for in-vitro research on prostate cell biology and tissue ageing. The origin of the series and the naming of each tissue-specific peptide are covered in the GenoPept Khavinson bioregulator guide.
Prostamax research applications
Research on this peptide is confined to preclinical settings, chiefly cell culture and rodent models, with a focus on prostate tissue. The areas below summarise where the published literature has investigated the KEDP sequence.
Prostate epithelial and stromal cell culture
Prostamax has been investigated in cultured prostate cells, with reported endpoints including proliferation, expression of differentiation markers and changes in cytokine-related signalling.
Inflammation models of prostate tissue
Preclinical work has examined the KEDP tetrapeptide in rodent models of chronic prostatic inflammation, using histology and inflammatory-marker expression as outcomes. These findings are exploratory.
Prostate tissue ageing
Research explores whether Prostamax alters age-related changes in prostatic tissue in aged animals, including fibrosis-related gene expression and epithelial renewal.
Comparison with Testagen
Prostamax and Testagen share the Lys-Glu-Asp core and differ only in their final residue, making the pair a useful model for studying how a single amino acid affects tissue selectivity in male reproductive tissue.
Mechanism of action (preclinical)
Prostamax is proposed to act via the nuclear gene-regulation mechanism attributed to all ultra-short Khavinson peptides. The Lys-Glu-Asp-Pro sequence is thought to enter prostate cells and interact with DNA and histone proteins, altering the transcription of genes involved in epithelial renewal and inflammatory signalling. Cell-culture studies have reported increased proliferation markers and reduced expression of pro-inflammatory mediators. The proline residue introduces a backbone kink that may affect nucleic-acid binding compared with Testagen. These remain preclinical observations without a confirmed receptor.

Reconstitution, handling and storage (laboratory)
Prostamax is supplied as a lyophilised powder and should be reconstituted only under laboratory conditions. Use bacteriostatic water or a sterile diluent appropriate to your assay. Add the solvent slowly down the inside wall of the vial, swirl gently until the powder dissolves and never shake, as agitation can degrade short peptides. Detailed steps are in our guide to reconstituting research peptides.
Unopened vials should be stored at –20 °C for long-term use, or at 2–8 °C for short periods, protected from light. After reconstitution, keep the solution at 2–8 °C and use it within the period stated in your laboratory protocol. See how to store research peptides for a full summary. Wear gloves and eye protection, work in a clean environment and dispose of residues according to local laboratory rules.
Quality assurance and Certificate of Analysis
Short peptides such as Prostamax are easy to mislabel, so identity testing matters as much as purity. Each batch is analysed by Puralytix (ISO/IEC 17025) with HPLC for purity of 99% or above and LC-MS to confirm the molecular mass of the Lys-Glu-Asp-Pro sequence. The lot-specific Certificate of Analysis is linked from this page and archived in our COA library; see what a Certificate of Analysis shows for guidance.

Prostamax frequently asked questions
What is Prostamax used for in research?
Prostamax is used in laboratory research on prostate epithelial and stromal cells, prostatic inflammation models and prostate tissue ageing. Investigators apply the Lys-Glu-Asp-Pro tetrapeptide to cultured cells and rodent models to study proliferation, differentiation markers and inflammatory signalling. GenoPept supplies it strictly for in-vitro research.
How is Prostamax supplied?
GenoPept Prostamax is a 20mg lyophilised powder in a sealed, sterile, black-capped glass vial labelled with lot and expiry. Each batch is tested by an independent ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory, with HPLC purity of at least 99% and LC-MS identity confirmation shown on the batch Certificate of Analysis.
What storage conditions does Prostamax need?
Store unopened Prostamax at minus 20 degrees Celsius for long-term storage, or at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius for short periods protected from light. After reconstitution keep the solution at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius and use within the period defined in your laboratory protocol.
Is Prostamax intended for human use?
No. Prostamax is for in-vitro laboratory research only. It is not a medicine, not for human or veterinary use and not for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. GenoPept does not provide dosing or administration information and sells only for legitimate research in the UK.
How does Prostamax differ from Testagen?
Prostamax (Lys-Glu-Asp-Pro) and Testagen (Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly) share three residues and differ only at the C-terminus. Prostamax is associated with prostate tissue and inflammation models, whereas Testagen is associated with testicular tissue and steroidogenesis models. Because the sequences are so close, they are often studied together in structure-activity work.
Research use only. Prostamax is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. Not for human or veterinary use, not a medicine, and not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. Full terms: research use only and UK legal status of research peptides.
